Info. on Female Rats and Babies:

ALL Rats Have Completed Quarentine and Are Ready For Their Forever Homes!

L.M.N.N.'s Babies
There is a woman at pet shop who had seperated certain rats because she just could NOT place them in the feeder bin. (each has a very interesting story, but I will not go into all of that, cause I could type all day...) So, since the woman could not take them home, she placed them in a breeder tank. She figured that at least that way the would LIVE. Anyway, the store decided that the females were expendable and that they no longer wanted all the breeders, so the woman heard about me and contacted me. I took all three of the female breeders and OF COURSE they are/were ALL PREGGERS. This litter is the first of three. They are now 5 days old.
Dumbo Rescue's Babies
There is another pet store right outside Charlotte, NC that had ordered dumbo and hairless rats. they were trying to sell the dumbos for approx. 21.99 and the hairless for approx. 25.99. Obviously they didn't sell many, so instead of lowering the prices on them, they decided to place them in the feeder bin and just get rid of them. A woman came in and wanted to look at the feeders (to get a pet) and she saw what had happened and not having much money she told them she would take the two female dumbos who were of course just mixed in now with all the males. She also asked the store to give her 24 hours to come back and either place a deposit on the others or pay for them entirely so they would not be sold as snake food. But to be honest she had NO place for 12 rats...I also came in the store that day, but later and upon talking to a woman who worked there found out what was going on. I had enough to purchase two of the dumbo males and put deposits on the hairless guys. I later returned to find out the first woman had paid the deposit on ALL the remaining rats and had agreed to let me pay the other half and place them in my rescue. I adopted out all but one hairless and two of the male dumbos (which I kept as my own). Getting to the point, the two female dumbos ended up being preggers and gave birth to their litters a week apart. These are the babies.

Baby
Baby was ordered for a family who wanted to replace their elderly pet rat who had recently passed away. After one week of living with them Baby was donated back to the store.
She is overly sensitive to noise and the family didn't know what was wrong with her and didn't want to deal with a skittish rat.
We now believe that Baby is blind at least in one eye and that is why she relies so much on her hearing.
She has not been handled a lot, but she seems to be adjusting to people just fine. She has shown no signs of aggression and would be a great rat for someone with a quiet home and a little extra time.
Baby is expecting a litter right now, but will be available as soon as the babies are weaned.

Sarah
Sarah was donated by her family who didn't want a rat any more. She nibbles bare toes and her owners didn't like that (so wear shoes around her...lol). Sarah has had one litter and is currently expecting a second. She has taken other rat pups to nurse and has actually aggrevated other mothers with her intense maternal instincts. Sarah has NEVER shown any signs of aggression and will surely make a GREAT rat for someone who has the time to love her as much as she will love them.
FIORE and her babies (6)

A new litter has arrived!

A woman called me from a local petshop to explain to me that a young boy (8-10) came into the shop and dropped off a rat which his parents had purchased for him and her 2 day old litter.  The parents did not wish to deal with the situation so they forced the boy to turn them over.  The mother rat is VERY sweet and shows no aggression and from what was explained to me the young boy loved her very much.  He cried and held her in the store while his parents sat outside in the car honking the horn and yelling for him.  I am sure she had a name, but the woman was so quick to snatch them up so as to not let them become feeders that she did not get to ask before the boy left in tears.  I am calling her Fiore.  She is a dark brown/black hooded 3-4 month old VERY LOVING rat.

LOCAL FOSTER
A local woman to the Charlotte area adopted a feeder rat who happened to be pregnant.  She now has 9 young babies that I will be fostering once they are weaned.  The mother is very sweet and appears to be a mink standard.  The babies are being handled regularly and are very healthy.  (1/11/04)
